Popular questions

The answers clients and firms reach for most. Every topic is covered in full further down the page.

How do I create an account?

Choose Get started from any page. Clients begin with an intake; firms register from Register a firm. If a firm invited you, use the link in your invitation email.

How do clients book a time?

Share your booking link. Clients pick a slot in their own time zone and confirm; both sides get a confirmation, and video meetings get a join link automatically.

How does e-signing work?

Place fields, then send to signers — you can sign too. Aequivio freezes the document at send and verifies it hasn't changed at signing, with a full audit trail.

How do invoices work?

Firms bill from time and expenses; clients pay online in the portal. Aequivio never processes your legal fees — firms use their own processor and we keep the records.

How do I find a lawyer?

Start from Find a lawyer or an intake. We match you with firms licensed for your issue — private until you express interest and consent.

How do I turn on two-factor?

In your profile's Security section add a passkey or authenticator app (TOTP), plus optional emailed sign-in codes. Two-factor is enforced fail-closed once on.

Getting started

How do I create an Aequivio account?

Choose Get started from the top of any page. Clients begin with an intake; firms register from Register a firm. You'll confirm your email and set a password. If you were invited by a firm, use the link in your invitation email.

What's the difference between a client and a firm account?

Clients use Aequivio to find legal help, book consultations, sign documents and track their matters. Firms get a full practice-management workspace — matters, documents, billing, trust accounting, scheduling and the lead marketplace.

How do I reset my password?

On the sign-in page choose Forgot password, enter your email, and follow the single-use link we send you. Reset links expire and can only be used once. Resetting your password signs out other sessions.

Booking & scheduling

How do I set up a booking page?

Go to Calendar → Online Booking & Sync → Booking types and select New booking type. Set the name, duration, location (video, phone or in person), your weekly availability and any questions to ask. Each booking type gets its own shareable link and a public page clients use to pick a time.

How do clients book a time with me?

Share your booking link (for example /book?t=consultation). Clients pick an available day and time in their own time zone, enter their details and confirm. You and the client both get a confirmation, and — for video meetings — a join link is created automatically.

Can I sync my Google or Outlook calendar?

Yes. On the Calendar sync tab, connect Google or Outlook for two-way sync, or generate a private subscribe link that works in Apple Calendar, Google or Outlook. Connected calendars are checked for conflicts so clients can only book free times.

What are routing forms?

A routing form asks one question up front and sends each answer to the right booking page — so clients reach the correct lawyer or practice area without back-and-forth. Create them under Routing forms and share the routing link instead of a single booking link.

Documents & e-signatures

How do I request a document from a client?

From Documents, use Requests & E-Sign to ask a client (or anyone by email) to upload a file. They receive a secure link, upload a PDF, and you're notified when it arrives.

How does e-signing work?

Upload a document, place signature and text fields with the prep tools, and send it to one or more signers — you can sign too. Aequivio freezes the document at send time and verifies it hasn't changed at signing, so the signed record is tamper-evident with a full audit trail.

Is my document storage secure?

Files are stored in a durable, access-controlled store and are only visible to your firm and the people a matter is shared with. Every access is logged.

Billing, trust & payments

How do invoices work?

Firms create invoices from time entries and expenses on a matter. Clients see their invoices in the portal and can pay online. Aequivio never processes your legal fees itself — firms use their own payment processor; Aequivio keeps the records.

What is trust accounting on Aequivio?

Aequivio provides trust ledgers, three-way reconciliation and period locks to help firms meet law-society trust rules. It is a record-keeping system — it does not move client money.

Can I take a deposit to confirm a booking?

Yes. On a booking type, set a deposit amount. The client is charged on your own connected payment account before the booking confirms; if payment isn't completed, the held time is released.

Marketplace & leads

How do I find a lawyer on the marketplace?

Start from Find a lawyer or begin an intake describing your matter. Aequivio matches you with firms that handle your issue. You stay in control — a firm only sees your details after you express interest and consent.

How do leads work for firms?

Firms receive matched client enquiries as leads. You review a redacted brief first; the client's identity is shared only once both sides consent. Conflicts are screened automatically before a lead reaches you.

Incorporation & business setup

How do I start a business (incorporate)?

Open Start a business. The guided flow walks you through a name, share structure, directors and identity verification, then prepares your filing. You can track each step from your dashboard.

How do I check my incorporation status?

Your client dashboard shows a live timeline for your incorporation, with the next action highlighted (for example, signing documents). You'll be notified as each stage completes.

Account, security & privacy

How do I turn on two-factor authentication?

In your profile's Security section you can add a passkey or authenticator app (TOTP), and turn on emailed sign-in codes with trusted-browser options. Two-factor is enforced fail-closed once enabled.

How do I manage my sessions and privacy?

Aequivio enforces single-session sign-in and lets you sign out other devices by changing your password. You can request access to or deletion of your personal data from the trust centre.

Integrations

Which integrations does Aequivio support?

Google Calendar / Meet, Microsoft Outlook / Teams, Zoom for meetings, QuickBooks for accounting, and calendar subscribe feeds for Apple/Google/Outlook. Connect them from Integrations and the Calendar sync tab.

How do I connect QuickBooks?

On the Integrations page, choose Connect QuickBooks and authorize your company. Once connected, you can import and reconcile from your Aequivio accounting workspace.
